The kingdom of God

Christians on earth are the very Kingdom of God on this earth. The Kingdom of God simply means the reign, the rulership, or the administration of God in us and through us. In other words, the kingdom of God is the reign of God that brings about through Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. That is, the establishment of God’s rule in the hearts and lives of His people, the overcoming of all the forces of evil, the removal from the world of all the consequences of sin – including death and all that diminishes life – and the creation of a new order of righteousness and peace. The Kingdom of heaven is the territory or dominion of God in the third heaven where the hosts of heaven are.

When God created the heavens and the earth, He created man to rule over His creation. God was ruling the earth through the heart of Adam because His kingdom was in the heart of Adam. Adam disobeyed God and His Kingdom in the heart of man left. Satan placed his kingdom of darkness in the heart of man from generations to generations; Isaiah prophesied the coming of the Messiah who would bring this Kingdom back into man's heart and restore to him whatever he lost as the result of the fall. The Messiah appeared on the scene, the Kingdom was preached, and those who believed received it and manifested the new life of this Kingdom on earth. A new order of righteousness and peace is received through the shed blood of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Christianity is this kingdom. The moment one receives salvation the Kingdom of God is settled in his heart so he is not a slave to sin but master of righteousness because the righteousness of Christ is given to him through the Holy Spirit, and so he is ready to manifest the new life in Christ. Rom 5:17

Do not be confused about the Kingdom of God and the Messianic Kingdom or the Millennial Kingdom. The Millennial Kingdom is a thousand year reign of Christ beginning from the battle of Armageddon (Rev 16:16) and ended by the final revolt of Satan (Rev 20:7-9). Whereas the Kingdom of God that Jesus preached about that it was near, was the coming of the Holy Spirit that would be poured on humanity, from the day of Pentecost till the Rapture of  the Church, so that human being would be anointed and endowed with the ability to do the will of God and manifest the very life of God.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Mt 6:10

It is only when the Holy Spirit fills the heart of a human being that he would be able to do the will of God. Although, many so called teachers of the Bible feel good to say that the Israelites rejected the kingdom and so it was postponed, it is never true. Those teachers do not know actually the real meaning of the kingdom Jesus was talking about and proclaiming was near. In God’s timing for the Jews the Messianic Kingdom was not supposed to be on earth at the time of Jesus first coming. Read Daniel 9:24-27. Some of the Jews was even planning to force Jesus to make Him king but He departed from them because he knew it was not that time.

When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. John 6:15

When he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come this is what He said;

... The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21

So, if I may ask, do you think the Messianic Kingdom will not come with observation?

When they accuse Him of using Beelzebub to minister healing and deliverance this was His reply;

"But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Lu 11:20

As Christians, we are here on earth as the kingdom of God to let the will of the Father be done on earth. That is why Jesus said we are the Light and the Salt of the world. The Holy Spirit in our lives bears the fruit of the kingdom and changes the lives of the believers to be holy and blameless.

“Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it.” Mt 21:43

Because Christianity has deeper meaning than what we think and understand that’s why Paul calls it a “Mystery.” Christianity is really a mystery, you understand it according to your level of maturity, and so Paul prays for us that God may give us the Spirit of revelation and of wisdom that we may be matured enough to understand the real meaning of it.

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power. Eph 1:17-19

So now, we are the kingdom of God on earth. What are you personally planning to do in the power of the Holy Spirit so that this Kingdom spreads from shore to shore? What are you doing to give freedom to the oppressed? Are you ready to heal the depressed and give hope to the hopeless? For this reasons we are called, to manifest the goodness of the Lord almighty. Let the world see our good deeds and give glory to our God.

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1Pe 2:12
