Christians’ Living

As children of God we are called to live godly, righteous lives in the mist of an ungodly sinful world and thus glorify God.

That you might walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing, being fruitful in every work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Col 1:10

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. Heb 12:14

Christians on earth are required to live Christian lives so that the unbelievers may be won and come to the faith - a light shining in darkness to draw lightflies to itself. A Christian life is a life filled with the Holy Spirit to manifest the very life of Christ Jesus. This is also known as the biblical life, victorious life; a life that is full of the fruit of the Spirit, a life that can challenge the unbelievers to be hungry for Christ. This is the kind of life every Christian is expected to live or manifest in this world. Jesus said we Christians are the light of the world, as lights our lives ought to illuminate hope, peace, joy, victory, prosperity, etc. in this world of darkness so that the unbelievers will glorify God. This wonderful fruitful life ought to manifest in our marriage, in our friendships being dependable, at our work places being trustworthy, reliable, loyal, etc. Unless there is a fruit in keeping with repentance, it is empty!

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Mt 5:16

If a Christian can live this kind of life, he ought to take Jesus at His word and be serious with the Holy Spirit; it is only the Holy Spirit in the believer's life together with the Word of God that can change his life so that he can manifest the very life of Jesus Christ on earth.

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious Church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Eph 5:26-27

Without being filled with the Holy Spirit or being led by Him, spiritual life is not possible, that’s why the non-spirit filled churches find it difficult leading glorious lives. You cannot differentiate them from the unbelievers, and they are very difficult to work with. You can never trust them or rely on them; they are not trustworthy, meanwhile they call themselves Christians and think they shall make it to heaven. They make the unbelievers speak abusively against Christianity instead of glorifying our Lord.

Christianity And Prosperity

Prosperity is said to be when people have money and everything that is needed for a good life, or the condition of enjoying wealth, success, or good fortune. The main purpose of Christians on this earth is not just to be rich and enjoy prosperity as some so called prosperity preachers come out to preach about, but rather, to manifest the love and the goodness of Christ Iesus to the world in many ways. That is; to be the Hope for the hopeless, to be the Provider for the needy, to be a father for the fatherless, etc. You have wealth, someone has none, it’s your responsibility as a Christian to help the one who has none instead of mocking him. This is what a Christian life is all about; let the love of the Lord be shown to them through you, you are a chosen vessel of the Lord to manifest His goodness to the world.

And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. Lu 3:10-11

Preachers have misled most of modern Christians by telling them the only purpose of God for them is to be rich and so those who are rich just keep on pilling wealth upon wealth instead of distributing to the needy. They only bless with their mouth but do not attempt to help anyone materially. Some are sick they cannot afford to pay their hospital bills to be discharged and there is no one to help. Where is the Hope of the hopeless? Where is the Provider of the needy? where is the father of the fatherless in this modern world? Christians on earth are neglecting their duties and are disappointing the Lord Of the harvest.

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Lu 12:16-21

Whatever you have you received, whatever you received you were given, and whatever you were given you are expected to give to the needy so that you shall be rewarded on the day of reckoning. For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Hos 6:6

Christianity And Poverty

Poverty is defined as the state of being poor: the state of not having enough money to take care of basic needs such as food, clothing, and housing.

For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. Mr 14:7

The Greek word is “Ptochos” which also stands for a beggar or vagabond. Many Christians are in poverty for many reasons; some because of improper family planning by their parents that led to unable to educate them. Some also because of poor family background they were born into, no one in the family could get a better education and job to help the rest; some because of disabilities or physically challenged so that they are unable to work and get money to provide for living. You can be a very powerful Christian and still be poor because of lack of knowledge to succeed or someone to lead you to the next level. No matter what, the poor shall always be with us and whatever be the cause of the poverty of others, it’s our sole responsibility to help them. The very people that you are tempted to despise are all together heirs of the Kingdom of God; God has never neglected them anyway because of their condition.

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? Jas 2:5

Rev John Wesley once said, “Work all you can, keep all you can, and give all you can to the poor and the needy.”

But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? ...If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Jas 2:6,15-16

Christians’ lives on earth should give hope to the needy; we should let them feel the love of God at all cost. Christ wants to reach them through our hands: Are you ready?

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isa 6:8

Make yourself available and let God send you to be a provider to the poor; and hope to the oppressed. Let someone be feeling to live because of your kindness, be a way provider and help the jobless to find job, help people out of depression and the feeling of committing suicide - let them say, "We feel to live instead of dying! Draw many to Christ through your kindness and let them also find the hidden treasure beyond the curtains!
